Since the beginning of 2007 Marc has
become an entrepreneur with the intention to explore various
business ideas. As Marc is a passionate property investor himself,
the most established venture to date is a specialized Rental Agency
focussing on residential property investors (www.house4rent.co.za). This venture is a growing
success and expansion takes up most of his time. Since November
2007, Marc has also started consulting in the Supply Chain
Management field. To begin with he was helping a large cardboard
manufacturer to optimise the control of their biggest raw material -
paper. Other consulting projects may follow if interesting
opportunities arise.
Marc worked 2005/06 as a Quality Manager
and similar roles at an ISO 9001:2000 certified international
photovoltaic modules manufacturer with customers predominantly in
Europe.
Prior to that Marc worked for 4 years as a Project
Manager (ERP implementation) and as a Yarn Manager at a sock
manufacturer servicing global niche markets. 2004 he gained his CPIM
qualification. He subsequently became a SAPICS member and involved
in the Cape Town chapter, now PSQ. Prior to this employment he
worked for one year at a vertically integrated textile mill
(spinning to garment) as Planning and Yarn Manager.
Due to
personal and career reasons Marc moved to South Africa in 1999 form
the UK where. he was employed as a Business Unit Engineer by a
9001:2000 and QS9000 certified automotive company of a global group
manufacturing car lock systems. During his time in the UK he studied
for one year at Newcastle College towards NEBS Diploma in Management
/ BTEC Certificate in Management Studies.
Prior to that he
worked as a Production Manager also in the UK in the automotive
related plastics industry in a company manufacturing large single
shot components for the global construction and agriculture vehicle
industry.
Prior to the 3 year stage in the UK Marc worked on
various projects for a technical felt manufacturer in Germany, which
supplied the filter and other industries globally. In 1995 Marc
graduated in Germany as Dipl.-Ing. Produktionstechnik (BSc
Production Technology / Engineering) at UNIVERSITY FOR APPLIED
SCIENCES in Hamburg. Prior to his graduation and as part of his
studies Marc spent one year in South Africa completing his practical
semester and writing his thesis at thermoplastic injection moulding
company.
In private life Marc enjoys property, family,
cycling, theatre, cinema, personal finance, travelling and
reading
